Sign in and open My shifts. That page has two halves: what is open to you, and what you have already taken.
Browsing
Filter by day, by crew, or by position. A shift shows the time, where it is, how many people are still needed, and who to ask about it.
What you see is already filtered to what you can actually do. A shift you are not eligible for — wrong crew, an age minimum, a certificate you do not hold — is either not listed or listed with the reason. That is kinder than letting you sign up and be removed later.
Signing up
Press Sign up. That is the whole thing; there is no confirmation step and no waiting for approval. The shift appears on your schedule immediately and you get an email.
A few things can stop it:
- The slot filled while you were reading. Two people pressing the last seat at the same time is handled properly: one gets it, the other is told at once and offered the waitlist.
- It overlaps something you already have. You cannot be in two places, and the system will not pretend otherwise.
- You said you are away. If the shift falls inside a time you marked unavailable, you get a warning rather than a refusal — it is your call, not the software's.
The waitlist
A full shift offers a waitlist instead. If somebody cancels, the first person waiting is moved in automatically and emailed. You do not have to watch the page.
You can be on several waitlists at once. If two of them promote you into overlapping shifts, the second promotion is refused rather than double-booking you.
Reminders
You get a reminder before each shift. How far ahead is up to the organization — a day before is common, and some send a week's notice as well. You can turn reminders off in your account settings, though the evening before a 6am call is not the moment to discover you did.
Adding shifts to your own calendar
Your schedule page offers a calendar subscription link. Paste it into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook and your shifts appear there, updating on their own when something changes.
Treat that link like a password. Anybody who has it can see your schedule.
